Bears in Mind is a registered Dutch foundation with its own Board. It has a small dedicated team employed and a team of volunteers. Twice a year, the Project Committee selects the projects to be supported.
Short history
Bears in Mind was founded in 1993 as ‘Stichting Berenbos Rhenen / International Bear Foundation‘ and later ‘Alertis – fund for bear and nature conservation’, to manage the project The Bear Forest as well as several other bear welfare initiatives. Over the years Bears in Mind’s scope has developed to include not only bear welfare projects, but also nature conservation, scientific research and education & awareness focused projects. Today, Bears in Mind is an internationally recognized bear conservation NGO that uses its knowledge, expertise and financial assets to protect bears in the wild and help captive bears in need.
